The teachers need parents to help make phone calls, organize parties, help with projects. Some teachers use the parents often and some a little. The teacher will contact you if you are needed.

On Friday mornings parents are welcome to help teachers with "chores". Our Friday Help!ers work in the Copy Room cutting, copying, laminating, collating, etc. for teachers and staff. It's a much-needed and much-appreciated service; just drop in any or every Friday. Friday Help!ers will also be responsible for organizing the supply of gently used uniforms. This is a great way to meet other parents, and younger siblings are welcome!

Help with covering books, typing, filing cards, shelving books, and sometimes reading a story. Also assist with Book Fair in November.

Coaching the various sports that we offer here at Mercymount. Coaches must have a National Criminal Background Check, in addition to attending the Safe Schools presentation, before acceptance as a coach for Mercymount. This is conducted via the Attorney General’s Office for a small fee. Results must be forwarded to Mercymount.

As teacher, nurse or secretary; must have certification, license or experience.

April/May

Bids for Kids – Our auction is the largest, most profitable fundraiser and social event. It involves various tasks, such as planning, soliciting donations, seeking sponsors, making follow-up phone calls, as well as set up & clean up on the day & night of the event. The committee meets monthly throughout the year until the spring gala event.

This event is held during the last week of classes.  All classes (K-7) have a great time outdoors with tug-o-war, balloon toss, sack races, etc. PLUS a delicious cookout. Lots of people with lots of ideas are needed to help PE teacher, Mr. Evans, with this annual day of fun.

The annual Golf Tournament is held in the spring of each year. The proceeds go directly to the technology needs at Mercymount. Committee work includes solicitations, rounding up golfers and setting up on the Tournament day!

Each class needs one volunteer to teach a 5 lesson program which can be done at any time during the school year. Subjects are determined by the grade level.

Volunteers are needed (the first few weeks of school) to count orders as they come in throughout the week, deliver prizes to classrooms and help with the “Limo to Lunch” run.

If we get at least 5 volunteers on each day, it should only take less than an hour each day.  

This committee coordinates the evening’s festivity, usually held in the spring.

All MCDS parents, by virtue of their title, are members of the Parent Association, however 12-15 parents make up the Executive Committee. Nominations are received during March and April and accepted by the Principal depending on available openings. Meetings are held monthly and are open to all current parents.

Volunteers are needed for the score table, concessions and admission tables. This usually occurs at the end of February through early March. This is a lucrative fundraiser for our Sports programs! A “Tip-Off Breakfast” before the Tournament engages the coaches and team members with cooking, set up and clean up at Mercymount’s cafeteria.  All proceeds support the Sports Program and gym improvements.

Each December, Mercymount students from PreSchool – 8 do their own Christmas shopping at school. Volunteers are needed to set up, wrap presents, sell gifts and cleanup. Gift wrapping is done in advance on a night in October which is a fun event in itself!

The Library hosts a book fair periodically. Volunteers are needed to set up and monitor the sale. The proceeds go toward the Library’s budget.

A dance is held for Mercymount girls K – 8 and their dads, grandfathers, uncles, etc.. This involves decorating, baking, planning, serving and cleanup. This committee meets several times after the holidays.
